Thea Harvey-Barratt of Your Yummy Life Coaching will be our guide for this evening. Thea understands what it means to live the good life. Her life has taken her across Europe, studying food, culture and cooking, to training as a certified health coach specializing in helping people who lead full lives reclaim the everyday pleasures of healthy living and the slow food movement.
One of the aims of the Slow Food movement is to “defend …good food, gastronomic pleasure and a slow pace of life.” Making candy by hand is a way of taking a store-bought junk food and making it into a sensual, creative life-affirming experience. It’s not nearly as hard as you think. In this class, we will make sweet treats from scratch using real, whole food, fair trade ingredients – no high fructose corn syrup, GMOs, or artificial anything. Each person will leave with a box of delights for themselves or to share with their sweetie.
Proposed Menu (subject to availability)
- Caramels with sea salt
- chocolate hazelnut truffles
- white chocolate pumpkin pie truffles
- peppermint patties
- spiced honey almond brittle
